Why Voodoo? Because it is more than just a place to workout. Voodoo is a community filled with family and friends that share a common goal of getting/staying in shape, strength training, improving one’s health and lifestyle, and being in an encouraging, yet challenging environment. I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am that I took that first step and called Scott (owner/coach) to check out what CrossFit was all about. I would not call myself an athlete by any stretch of the imagination. However, I know how important strength training is, especially for women. Until joining Voodoo, my biggest form of exercise was walking. When I first started at Voodoo, I could barely lift 5 pounds over my head, let alone do the crazy workouts and weight lifting programs scheduled, but I knew I needed to keep with it. I am now 8 months into my Voodoo CrossFit journey, and can’t believe the transformation I have gone through. I have more energy, lost weight, toned muscles, and just feel better overall. Now let me tell you the true reason I continue to workout at Voodoo. Not only are the people welcoming, amazing, and encouraging, but the coaches are AWESOME and go above and beyond to guide, teach, encourage, support, challenge and push you! Their priority is to ensure you have proper technique to avoid injury and understand how to complete each WOD (workout of the day) in the most effective and beneficial manner, whether you are a newbie or a seasoned CrossFitter. To me, this is very important. They customize the WOD to your ability and push you when they see your potential, which you may not yet see or believe.
